TubeClock

TubeClock is a simple, no-frills clock app in the style of nixie tube clocks. No fancy faux-glass-tube overlay. No unnecessary features. Just the time.

You can switch between 12- and 24-hour modes, and you can adjust the color of the digits themselves. Digits have an optional subtle, random flicker similar to that of an actual nixie tube. Use the app in horizontal or vertical modes as you please.

The whole reason this app exists is that I needed an easy project to cut my teeth on Objective-C, so I could later build more complex apps, and because I was looking for an excuse to use a set of digits I had created several years earlier.

Physical nixie tubes are complex widgets. All numbers 0-9 exist in a single tube, which each digit stacked in front or behind another so that when one is lit up, you see the faint outline of those in front of it.
